In the end, all that was left was a few bone fragments and... her snout.

Took a lot of encouragement to get the fire burning properly as a lot of the wood was still a bit green.

Her name, Griss, means swine or pork in Old Norse so we tried to do it properly by reciting as much, um, "Scandinavian" as we could muster up: skol, surströmming, Hardangerfjord, IKEA, varsegod, du har vackra ögon, and then we sort of ran out. She was a good pig.

There's Grissy in her T-shirt shroud, atop her funeral pyre. We weren't sure it would work, but it went very well.

We found our three month old piglet Griss lying stiff legged on the straw and struggling. We took her to the vet but they could only confirm what we suspected: tetanus. She was euthanised. Burial was not a good option due to the concentration of tetanus, and we were advised to burn her, so we decided to give her a Viking funeral pyre, as befits her name (Griss = swine in Old Norse).
