Before fitting the cups, they give the ewe's udders a good hard grope to let the milk down. Rough as it looks, it's nothing compared to what lambs do to their mothers!

We went to the Island Pure Sheep Dairy and were lucky to get there during milking. Tried a lot of delicious cheeses and yoghurt, and bought stuff to take with us.
