We give the damaged apples from our own trees to our cows, Martha and her calf Miggy. We gave them a bucketful from the gleaned apples and they thought it was Christmas.

There is an apple tree by the road near our farm, loaded with ripe apples, and no one takes them. There was a thick layer of them on the ground already. Jennifer, William and I went down there and picked about 100kg of them very easily. This is only half our "harvest".

Manu the Basque pruned this tree early in the spring, and it had more apples than ever before, and almost all of them perfect. We picked three big crates of them. Not sure which variety, but we think probably Jonathan.
