freezer disaster

15 Oct 2014 70
Our 700L chest freezer, only ten months old, suddenly stopped being so cold. We had been away for a week and after we came back, it was a few days before we had reason to open it, when we discovered what had happened. But the meat was going soft, Rang the dealer Monday morning and they managed to find time for us on Wednesday afternoon. "We recommend you move all of it into another freezer", they said on Monday. Who has TWO huge freezers at their disposal?! This photo of semi-thawed meat was required for the insurance claim. And for the record, when I rang Westinghouse ("proudly Australian made") about it, they were pretty disinterested, AND they made a point of telling me they were not responsible for any losses incurred. Freezer food loss is covered under our household insurance policy, and I think they will probably be of the opinion that Westinghouse ARE responsible for an appliance still under warranty,In any eventm better that they deal with Westinghouse rather than me. Harumph.
