Camilo Cienfuegos Gorriarán (born 06.02.1932 in Havanna, died 28.10.1959, probably due to a plane crash over the sea between Camagüey and Havanna) was one of the most important Cuban revolutionists. Cienfuegos name translates in English to "a hundred fires". The monument and museum shown in the images, the "Monumento y MuseoCamilo Cienfuegos", was built after his death in Yaguajay, at the site of the barracks of the Batista's forces during the 1958 battle.
Che Guevara, who was close to Cienfuegos, named his son Camilo in his honor. I met Camilo one day at an exhibition of his photos in my hometown, see 2nd PiP (original photo by www.info-graz.at ). It's a small world!
