On clear days you can see Haiti on the horizon, which is about 35 km away.

The fresnel lense can be opened and you expect a nice old and big lamp. What appears is a disappointingly small modern lamp ;-)) But anyway, the fresnel lense is impressing! The drive was made by L. Sautter & Cie. in Paris. - See PiP's

After 144 steps of the red painted wooden stair and a ladder (see PiP's) we are on the platform, together with the lighthouse keeper. For the protection of the painting only without shoes!

"Faro de Punta de Maisí" is a lighthouse at the most eastern tip of Cuba and a symbol for Maisí. It has been built from 1857-1862 under the Spanish queen Isabella II and engineer Don Marianao Moreno. Its name was Faro de Concha back then. It is 31 m tall and 144 steps lead to the lantern with a fresnel lense from Paris. On clear days you can see Haiti in the west.
