Glen Canyon Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam on the Colorado River in northern Arizona, near the town of Page. The 220 m high dam was built from 1956 to 1966 and forms Lake Powell, one of the largest man-made reservoirs in the with a capacity of 33 km³. The catchment area of Colorado river is 280590 km². The power house has eight Francis turbines, each has a cpower of 254000 hp. The Glen Canyon Bridge is a steel arch bridge in Arizona, carrying U.S. Route 89 across the Colorado River. The bridge was originally built to facilitate transportation of materials for the Glen Canyon Dam, which lies just 264 m upstream. The bridge has an overall length of 387 m with a deck 210 m above the river. It was the highest arch bridge in the world when completed in 1959.
