One of the great examples of Art Deco is the Bacardi building in Havana. Nowadays it's impossible to visit more than the entrance area, but years ago we found someone who let us climb up to the top (next image - 2011). The architectural landmark was designed by the architects Esteban Rodríguez-Castells and Rafael Fernández Ruenes and completed in 1930.

The old Bacardi Rum Factory in Santiago de Cuba, which was founded in 1838, is still producing Rum, but not named Bacardi. The traditional Ron Caney brand (which is the original old Bacardi), Ron Santiago and Ron Varadero are made instead. HFF and a great weekend, stay safe!

One of the beautifully restored buildings in the old town of Santiago de Cuba is the "Museo Municipal Emilio Bacardí Moreau". Founded in 1899 by the rum-magnate, war hero and city mayor, Emilio Bacardí y Moreau, the museum is one of Cuba's oldest and most eclectic, with a striking collection of Cuban paintings and some absorbing artifacts amassed from Bacardí's travels.
