Monument of the "Soldado Libertador" on Plaza de la Vigia in Matanzas, which was founded in 1693. "Soldado Libertador" means "unknown soldier" of Cuba's independence wars. The 3 m tall statue is made from Carrara-marble by the artist Carlo Nicoli, on behalf of the "Veterans Center for Independence" of the town Matanzas in the early 20th century.

The swing bridge was opened in 1903 and is still in operation. The PiP shows the view upstream the river "Rio San Juan".
