This image was the result of chance. I had actually just wanted to take a photo of my wife in front of this impressive curtain of artificial snow. I only realised that another skier was skiing through the image in the background when I checked the picture. ~~~~~ Bei diesem Bild hat der Zufall Regie geführt. Eigentlich hatte ich nämlich nur meine Frau vor diesem beeindruckenden Vorhang aus Kunstschnee fotografieren wollen. Dass im Hintergrund ein anderer Skifahrer durchs Bild fuhr, habe ich erst bei der Bildkontrolle gesehen.

Snow cannons are more commonly used at lower altitudes. They have a higher output and thus create thicker snow cover more quickly. This picture was taken near the valley station of the mountain cable car to the Buchensteinwand (1,456 m) near St. Jakob (Tyrol, Austria). ~~~~~ In den unteren Lagen werden eher Schneekanonen eingesetzt. Sie haben eine höhere Leistung und schaffen damit schneller dickere Schneedecken. Not a picture from today, because I wasn't outside. It's raining cats and dogs. But this two years old picture shows exactly, what I saw today, looking through our living room window to the ski slopes at the Kitzbüheler Horn. ~~~~~ Vergeblich, aber nicht umsonst!
