The via ferrata Pfeilspitzwand rises steeply above the valley floor. Below you can see the hikers' car park, the river Ziller and the road leading to Mayrhofen . Hard to make out are the tracks of the Zillertal Railway right next to the car road. In the older pictures from 2017, the railway is better visible (see below) ~~~~~ Die Pfeilspitzwand erhebt sich steil über dem Talgrund. Unten sieht man den Wanderparkplatz, den Fluss Ziller und die Straße, die nach Mayrhofen führt. Schwer zu erkennen sind die Gleise der Zillertalbahn direkt neben der Autostraße. Auf den älteren Bildern aus 2017 ist die Bahn besser zu erkennen:

After 12 years with a total of 360 adventures in 150 via ferrata routes, a milestone was celebrated on October 1, 2023: 100,000 metres of climbing ! The same distance won't happen again in this lifetime. But the end is still a long way off. The picture was taken on the Via Ferrata Pfeilspitzwand (250 metres of climbing, difficulty 'C/D') in the Zillertal (Tyrol, Austria). My wife and a friend accompanied me. ~~~~~ Nach inzwischen 12 Jahren mit insgesamt 360 Touren in 150 Klettersteigen stand am 1. Oktober 2023 die Feier eines Meilensteins an: 100.000 Klettermeter ! Noch mal dieselbe Distanz wird sich in diesem Leben nicht mehr ausgehen. Aber Schluss ist längst noch nicht. Das Bild entstand im Klettersteig Pfeilspitzwand (250 Klettermeter, Schwierigkeit 'C/D') im Zillertal (Tirol, Österreich). Begleitet haben mich meine Frau und ein Freund. ~~~~~

One of our favourite tours for training: The fixed rope route Pfeilspitzwand-Klettersteig in the Zillertal (Tyrol, Austria), combined with the upper Astegg-Klettersteig . The total of 540 metres of climbing in difficulty C/D are exactly to our liking in the most beautiful nature. ~~~~~ Eine unserer Lieblings-Touren zum Trainieren: Der Pfeilspitzwand-Klettersteig im Zillertal (Tirol, Österreich), in Kombination mit dem darüber liegenden Astegg-Klettersteig . Captured after a climbing tour with my wife and a friend of us at Gasthof Zimmereben (Zillertal, Tyrol, Austria) one year ago at summery weather. This alpine hut is situated at the upper end of all the three fixed rope routes in Mayrhofen. ~~~~~ Aufgenommen nach einer Klettertour mit meiner Frau und einem Freund auf der Terrasse des Gasthofs Zimmereben (Zillertal, Tirol, Österreich) vor einem Jahr bei ebenso sommerlichem Wetter wie heute. Dieser Gasthof liegt direkt am oberen Ende aller drei Klettersteig und der beiden Wanderwege, die durch die Felswand nach oben führen. ~~~~~ Map with photo point :

That's what the climber is seeing from below: 20 meters of sheer rock walls (difficulty "C+" witin a range form A-E.) But the problem is more in the head than in the body! (Tour #132) ~~~~~ Das ist die Aussicht, welche die Kletterin beim Blick nach oben hat: Eine 20m hohe Felswand (Schwierigkeitsgrad "C+" in der Skala A-E.) Aber es ist eher eine psychische Herausforderung als eine körperliche. Denn der Aufstieg ist mit vielen Trittbügeln entschärft. Climbing upwards, looking back is as useless, as thinking of actions, which already are done. Look only forward and focus totally on your next step. Don't waste energy for anything else but achieving your goal. Mountaineers Rule #14 of course is valid for the photographer, too. His next action wasn't yet to climb further, but to take this picture - standing well secured. The following climbers namely had taken his attention. They were a godsend to take a picture with a proper impression of depth. (Captured last year in summer within the fixed rope route Pfeilspitzwand-Klettersteig near Mayrhofen (Tyrol, Austria). ~~~~~ Die Bergsteigerregel #14 gilt natürlich auch für Fotografen. Dessen nächste Aktion war allerdings nicht das Weiterklettern, sondern diese Aufnahme aus einem gut gesicherten Stand heraus. Die nachfolgenden Kletterer waren nämlich schon lange im Blick - und genau hier ergab sich eine Konstellation, die ein Bild mit gutem Tiefeneindruck ermöglichte.
