Between 1734 and 1745, this cart track from Moos in Passeier (South Tyrol, Italy) to St. Leonhard was blasted into the rock wall. "Well established for pedestrians, but only passable as an emergency" , wrote the chronicler Beda Weber. It was not until 1900 that a road was built. The old cart track is now only a footpath. (On the right, a wayside shrine of the Catholic Way of the Cross, 1st station: 'He who sweated blood for us.') This old cart track is now only a walking path.
