The path to the summit of the Gargellner Köpfe (2,482m) leads over a ridge of boulders. The bumblebee has it much easier up here ~~~~~ Die Strecke zum Gipfel der Gargellner Köpfe (2,482m) führt über einen Grat aus Felsblöcken. Die Hummel hat es hier oben wesentlich leichter. ~~~~~

Here is the ridge in a wide-angle shot. It is very easy to walk. Nevertheless, there is always an oppressive feeling. ~~~~~ Hier der Grat in einer Weitwinkelaufnahme. Zu gehen ist er kinderleicht. Trotzdem ist immer ein beklemmendes Gefühl da. ~~~~~

After the ascent, there is a stretch over a ridge of boulders. You get used to the feeling of going down a few hundred metres to the right and left over time (at least a little). ~~~~~ Nach dem Aufstieg geht es eine Strecke über einen Grat aus Felsblöcken. An das Gefühl, das man hat, wenn es rechts und links einige hundert Meter runter geht, gewöhnt man sich mit der Zeit (wenigstens etwas). ~~~~~

From the other side you have to walk about 15 meters over a narrow ridge. On both sides it goes down vertically. Although one is roped up, but would fall nevertheless very painful . . . ~~~~~ Vom anderen Ende sind etwa 15 Meter über einen schmalen Grat zu gehen. An beiden Seiten geht es senkrecht runter. Zwar ist man angeseilt, aber zu fallen täte trotzdem sehr, sehr weh . . .

From the 'Wehrgrubenjoch' the trail leads northwards. Here at 2.300 meters of altitude it is noticable cooler. Some people realize first symptoms of mountain sickness by tackling more than 1.500 meters within a single day. They are getting a little bit breathless, the alertness declines, a daze feeling may raise. Therefore it's advisable to be double alert within this karst landscape and to go consciouly slow. (7 hours after the start - photo stops and a little rest included) ~~~~~ Vom Wehrgrubenjoch geht es nordwärts. Hier auf 2.300 Metern Höhe ist es deutlich kälter als unten im Tal. Und manch eine (r) spürt bei mehr als 1.500 Metern Aufstieg an einem einzigen Tag auch leichte Symptome der Höhenkrankheit: Man wird kurzatmiger, die Konzentration lässt nach, leichte Benommenheit stellt sich ein. Dann heißt es doppelt aufzupassen in diesem karstigen Gelände und bewusst langsam zu gehen. (7 Stunden nach dem Start, incl. Fotostopps und Frühstückspause)
