Golden Rain (Laburnum anagyroides). It is found everywhere in the Garda region as a wild plant and is very poisonous in all parts of the plant. In Germany, it is one of the plants that the poison information centres have to deal with most frequently. The main poisonous ingredient, cytisine, is approved as a tobacco cessation agent in Austria and Germany. It acts on the same receptors as nicotine without being addictive. (At the beginning of the 19th century, laburnum leaves were also used as a tobacco substitute. However, because it was not addictive, the tobacco industry could not make money with it). Seen during the descent from Cima Capi . ~~~~~ Gemeiner Goldregen (Laburnum anagyroides). Er begegnet einem in der Gardaseeregion überall als Wildpflanze und ist in allen Pflanzenteilen sehr giftig. In Deutshcland gehört er zu den Pflanzen, mit denen sich die Giftinformationszentralen am häufigsten beschäftigen müssen. Der giftige Haupt-Inhaltsstoff Cytisin ist als 'Asmoken' in Österreich und Deutschland als Tabakentwöhnungsmittel zugelassen. Er wirkt nämlich auf dieselben Rezeptoren wie Nikotin, ohne süchtig zu machen. (Anfang des 19ten Jahrunderts wurden Blätter des Goldregens auch als Tabakersatz verwendet.
