Cerro Torre - Portrait

Close up of the summit of Cerro Torre (3128m) - a seriously vertical bit of rock! The 'mushroom cap' is peculiar to these mountains. It is composed of aerated frost deposited from the moist and very frequent winds that blow over the summit. Fly to this location (Requires Google Earth )

Another view of Fitzroy's summit, that now, just as I am putting the slides back in their box I think I prefer to the one I posted already. There's something about the arc of lesser peaks that I find appealing.

Approaching Le Vignemale

Beyond Lac de Gaube the tourists thin out and the views of the Vignemale (3298m) become ever more impressive. French Pyrenees Fly to this location (Requires Google Earth )
