Protea

25 Jun 2006 106
Handheld with slow film, shame the focus isn't quite in the right spot.

Ocean Beach

25 Jun 2006 76
Fabulous ocean feel to this beach near the Cape.

Death Wish Tortoise

25 Jun 2006 108
This tortoise thought it a good idea to seek shade under parked vehicles. It must be brighter than it seems to have survived this long.

The end of the land

25 Jun 2006 109
So-so photo, but everyone has to visit the Cape of Good Hope, even if it isn't actually the southernmost point of Africa.

Historic Monument

25 Jun 2006 88
Some fine plaques marking historic buildings in Stellenbosch.

Cape Dutch architecture at Boschendal Estate, Franschhoek.

Bacchanalian Frieze

25 Jun 2006 95
A somewhat over the top frieze at Boschendal estate, Fanschhoek. A fine picnic spot and the wine isn't that bad either.

Table Mountain View

25 Jun 2006 87
View from the top of Table Mountain near McClear's beacon (1086m). A bracing walk up from Kirstenbosch.

Table Mountain and Tablecloth

25 Jun 2006 95
This cloud just appears from nowhere if a South Easter blows in during the summer months. It literally tumbles over the edge of the mountain.

Noordhoek Beach

25 Jun 2006 90
Sunny at the beach but showery just inland. There doesn't seem to be any shortage of great ocean beaches in this part of South Africa.

Driving Along the Bottom Bit of Africa

25 Jun 2006 85
Dramatic coastal scenery driving along the bottom bit of Africa near Betty's Bay. One of those days where it may be raining a few hundred metres inland but you can be in the sunshine at the coast.

Leopard's Kloof

25 Jun 2006 107
The head of a forested gorge in the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden. Hard to imagine the coast is just a few miles away. Didn't see any leopards.

Jackass Penguin

25 Jun 2006 80
Jackass Penguins at Stony Point, Betty's Bay. This is the other mainland colony in the area besides the more famous one at Boulders beach.
