One of the best things about British mountains is that in general you can get to the top of them - although Liathach presents more of a challenge than some. We spent a very pleasant lunch break here at Spidean a Coire Leith (1055m) admiring this view of the Beinn Eighe mountain chain and the lower slopes of Liathach. During the whole day in these fabulous conditions we encountered just one group of four other people. However our lunch break was spectacularly interrupted by a fast jet, flying from behind where we sitting, just 40m away from us below and to our left. The pilot proceeded to skim the top of Beinn Eighe before climbing for a huge loop. I think he was enjoying the mountains just as much as we were! Torridon, NW Scotland.

The quartzite boulders on the southern flanks of Beinn Eighe would make a fairly tough scree run I imagine. We chose the rather easier descent provided by Coire an Laoigh. Torridon, NW Scotland.

Looking towards Beinn Alligin's second highest top - Tom na Gruagaich (922m), after which it is all (steeply) downhill to home comforts. Beinn Alligin roughly translates to 'jewelled mountain' and it is certainly a very attractive mountain. Torridon, NW Scotland.

The view North(ish) from near Ruadh Stac Mor (1010m), the highest summit of Beinn Eighe. The mountains in this part of Scotland just rise up from the surrounding peatlands and on a good day the coast is visible from the tops. Torridon, NW Scotland Fly to this location (Requires Google Earth )
