April Fool, Ha Ha!

15 Mar 2018 2 1 612
"April Fool. Ha ha." A nineteenth-century calling card printed on marbled paper that has faded over time. Instead of a typical calling card with a name printed on it, some Victorian-era prankster handed out this card as an April Fools' Day joke. For another Victorian calling card printed on marbled paper, see Marian Reynolds .

Going Dutch on the Boardwalk, Atlantic City, N.J.

26 Jun 2014 3 2 1277
Printed on the back of this real photo postcard: "Flett, 1517 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, N.J." This seaside souvenir studio photo was originally very light, and I wasn't entirely successful in sprucing it up. But I hope it's dark enough to make out the characteristics--amazing hats, deer-in-the-headlights facial expressions, and comical foreground illustration (signed by "Flett")--that I found so amusing.

A Man Pushing Himself on a Wheelbarrow

29 Aug 2013 1 1043
A rather faded trick photo that uses a double exposure to show a man simultaneously pushing and riding a wheelbarrow. Not to be confused with A Woman Pulling Herself on a Wagon . 8-) For another similar trick photo, see A Man Simultaneously Pushing and Riding a Wheelbarrow .
