Public Sale of Saddler Supplies!
The undersigned will sell at public sale at the Franklin House, Schaefferstown, Pa., on Saturday evening, June 28, 1919, the following, to wit:
Front gear, collars, hams, halters, bridles, traces, bits, sweat pads, harness pads, fly nets, snaps, rings, buckles, whips, rosetts, hooks, curry combs, halter chains, harness dressing, Holling Shead's Gall Cure, oils, dog collars, scrap leather, and many other articles not mentioned.
Sale to commence at 7 o'clock p.m., conditions made known by J. M. Edwards.

"Friendly Tavern, Route 11-15, north of Harrisburg, Pa."
The Friendly Tavern was located in Perry County , Pennsylvania, along a stretch of highway where U.S. Route 11 combines with U.S. Route 15 . The building that housed the taven is now part of an establishment called TJ's (see the Google Maps Street View from 2015).

"John Pecinovsky, the famous Half & Half Man, owner and operator of the Bonair Tavern, 4 miles west and 3 miles north of Cresco, Iowa. We serve Fitger's Beer, Walt Rush, distributor. Ice cream, soft drinks, and candy. Half & Half, Bonair, Iowa. Souvenir post card."
As one brief obituary explained, "For years Pecinovsky wore suits in which half of the coat was white and the other black, one trouser leg white and the other black. One side of his face was always kept shaved smooth while the other was permitted to support a luxuriant crop of whiskers" ( Waterloo Daily Courier , April 7, 1942).
