Aieeeeee!!!

24 Aug 2016 8 9 1260
A photo for the Vintage Photos Theme Park monthly topic of quirky humor (submit a photo on this topic each week in addition to—or instead of—a photo for the weekly topic). I was saddened to learn that Barbara "Babs" Bird (aka corduroy cat), a former member of the Vintage Photos Theme Park, passed away on February 9, 2020. I always appreciated her quirky sense of humor. Although all of her comments disappeared when she left Ipernity a couple of years ago, I remember that she said that this was her favorite photo of mine. -------- Lots of fun details here--pouts, grins, somber looks, closed eyes, big hats, wall hangings, patterned wallpaper, a mirror. And then there's that kid in front who's yelling at the top of his lungs and ruining the picture: Aieeeeee!!! The photo came in a nice paper frame , too:

Here's a Wireless Telegram—Be My Valentine

13 Feb 2018 3 2 1051
Here's a wireless telegram That I will send to you I'm in love with you—I am I love you 'deed I do Be my valentine. R. F. Outcault Cartoonist Richard F. Outcault (1863-1928) featured Buster Brown and his dog Tige—both of them winking and smiling—in this valentine from 1904.

Come On, Tige!

Postmarked Boston, Mass., Sept. 12, 1911, on the back and addressed to Miss Edith Bates, 27 Bradbury St., Allston, Mass., with a handwritten message: "Are [Our] Little Dear!" A curious postcard featuring an oversized dog. The name Tige may relate to the dog in cartoonist Richard F. Outcault 's popular Buster Brown comic strip, which first appeared in 1902. For examples of Outcault's drawings of Tige, see Buster Brown and His Dog Tige and Buster Brown Joker (below).

Elmer's Acting Up!

20 Aug 2013 2 939
Oh, how awkward! Looks like Elmer's making a spectacle of himself again! He's perched on top of a bear pull toy, leaning over a container of flowers, and holding a stuffed bunny rabbit and a bear. Lord knows what he has draped over his head. Please, Elmer, leave the kids' toys alone and just grow up! (Awkwardly posted to the Vintage Photos Theme Park for the week of August 19-25, 2013.)
