The sticky tentacles on the leaf of a Drosera capensis plant. These are used to trap unsuspecting flies and small insects that then become food for the plant. Taken at 5x magnification.

A Drosera capensis 'Alba' leaf , this is the pale form that lacks the bright red colouration of the species, it does make an exceedingly attractive plant that really sparkles in the sun. Its also a very efficient fly catcher, especially of Sciarid flies that are often a nuisance in a greenhouse and even indoors. Image was taken in natural light and is uncropped.
