We passed this forest fire near Moyie Lake, British Columbia, Canada. It has been a record year of forest fires and the smoke has been lingering over Alberta, where we live, all summer long.
This fire spread and is now threatening populated areas.

The Sunday Challenge: Heat
I had to work quickly. The heat around this campfire was close to singeing my model. The orange in the foreground are the flames licking up between me and the subject.

This field was on fire only two weeks earlier to the day. New fence posts, wire, and the green is coming through the black scorched earth.
See the notes for the scene two weeks earlier or browse through my last five submissions.

Alberta is dry and anything will start a fire. We passed by a familiar intersection in the country two weeks ago. At the time the field was on fire and we could see large orange flames. Fortunately the fire did not cross the highway. This truck was driving away from the fire as it was still burning.
Currently the city of Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta is fighting for its life as over 1600 homes have been destroyed by a forest fire. It is the largest evacuation in Alberta history, 90,000 people.
