Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified Notation: Handwritten note on reverse reads; "How do you like this one. from left to right are myself, Mrs. Singleton, Miss Whitcomb and Mr. Singleton the cook. we took it one night after supper. That's the way (we) walk around here no coat shirt sleeves rolled up. (ha ha)."

Dear Ada, I received your kind & welcome letter a few days ago. I feel ashamed of myself for not writing sooner. No there was nothing in the letter to offend me. I am awfully sorry I kept you waiting so long. I really can't tell, but I don't think it will be possible for me to get home this winter. Times are awful hard out here this winter. I have about five hundred dollars standing out on farmers notes but I am unable to collect them although most of them are due.Of course it is safe enough but they don't seem to be able to get the cash and I hate to sue them for it. I will write you a letter in a day or two. I have been away back in the mountains for about a month and just got back. I had some pretty hard luck. I only got a shot at one moose and then he got away. Well I guess I will say good bye for this time and look for a letter in a day or two. As ever your true friend, - Edwin"

Isn't it a dandy. Ha ha. It was taken just outside the cook house after supper."
