POSTCARD Date: Not evident. Not Posted. Publisher / Photographer: Lyall Commercial. Notation: Apart from the great headgear, it was the background of this image that was of particular interest to me. On the right is the seldom-seen backside of the old Law Court building on Kennedy St. The building on the left is a wing of the old Vaughan Street Gaol. The tall wooden fence behind the trees is part of the wall that enclosed the exercise area attached to the jail. The top of the fence has some kind of fixture that would prevent inmates from climbing out.

POSTCARD Date: Posted September 17, 1903. Publisher / Photographer: Unidentified Notation: Description taken from vintagepostcards.ca: "This postcard shows Windsor armouries, built between January 1, 1900 and January 1, 1902, designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style by David Ewart of the Federal Department of Public Works, and a piper, and was likely issued about 1901, possibly in support of soldiers participating in the Boer War. The 25,000 square foot armouries, constructed for $60,000, were used to welcome home the soldiers returning from the Boer War."
