A bomb of a barbecue

12 Feb 2010 129
Visitor Centre, COPE National Rehabilitation Centre www.copelaos.org/ This is the outer casing of a bomb that contained hundreds of little bomblets (bombies). Many of those bomblets are still lying around in the countryside in Laos (which was one of the most heavily bombarded countries in the world during the Vietnam war), and unexploded ordnance (UXO) is still a major factor in many deaths in Laos. COPE (Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise) provides prosthetics and mobility devices for those people who require them (many of whom as a result of UXO accidents), free of charge if they cannot afford to pay for them.
