A view of a coulee with an abandoned house and barn in the distance. This was taken in late April, near Indian Head, Saskatchewan, after the snow had melted, but before the plants had begun to turn the land green. I wonder what the long-ago homesteader thought when he chose this location to build his home.

It was common for settlers in Saskatchewan to replace their first house with a better one, if they were successful. In this case I surmise that the settler grafted the stucco covered addition onto the original wood frame house. This house sits beside a grid road north of Indian Head, Saskatchewan.
