I stop for solitary trees on the prairies. With the interesting clouds as a background I had to stop to by this tree at the edge of a field. The road leads to Pine Cree Regional Park in southwest Saskatchewan.

A beans a flower, surrounded by prickly leaves. I would have changed to a macro lens for this image, but I expect the bee wouldn't wait around.

The sides of the hills that form Pine Cree Coulee rise steeply, with tree roots exposed in places, such as in this image. I think the network of roots is fascinating.

Clearly, animals, and perhaps some humans, have used this shallow spot on Swift Current Creek to pass from one side to the other. I used a long exposure to try to add some blur to the flowing water.

Swift Current Creek has its headwaters in the coulee where Pine Cree Regional Park is located. The creek winds through the park, providing many opportunities to photograph it. By the time the creek reaches the city of Swift Current it is much deeper and wider than this, which is easily crossed thanks to a few rocks.

Pine Cree Regional Park is located at the bottom of a deep coulee, which is surrounded by mostly flat crop land, which makes the entry into the park steep and dramatic. The flat lan is mostly treeless, while the coulee bottom is shaded by trees.
