The east end of Wascana Lake is more like a marsh. Although there are apartments, and educational institution and the Trans-Canada Highway nearby, this area provides habitat for a lot of wildlife. This image was taken on a peaceful morning after the ice has left.

To everything there is a season

... and a season for everything under Heaven. While taking photos in a country cemetery a farmer was seeding, and I think, fertilizing in the field behind. It reminded me of the cycle of the seasons, and the passing years.

CP Rail is staging a tour of Canada, the US and Mexico with this locomotive to mark the merger with Kansas City Southern railway, making it CPKC. This locomotive, the Empress, was built in 1930 and is painted in the CP Rail colours of that day. It made a stop in Moose Jaw as part of the tour. About 1000 people came out to see the train, so getting good photographs was a challenge.

A cemetery located in the country, beside Bethesda Lutheran Church, near Avonlea, Saskatchewan. The church and cemetery are both well cared for, with solar lights on many of the graves.

Bethesda Lutheran Church is a country church, surrounded by farm fields. It is clearly well cared for, with a fresh coat of paint and a metal roof. Two small gravestones can be seen to the left of the church, in the cemetery beside the building.

Another perspective on a vintage wagon located at the entry road to a farm near Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan. This time I visited in the afternoon, shooting toward the east.
GMC target practice

This truck is located in a yard strewn with other discarded machinery, and with several grain bins. The dents and occasional bullet holes indicate that this truck has been used for target practice.

I wasn't lost; I'd just taken the wrong side road in the dark. While driving toward my intended location I saw this lovely barn, so after recording the sunrise I doubled back to take some images of this lovely barn. Out of the frame to the right I think there may have been a house in the yard, but it is gone.

In early April the trees are still bare, but the sun is rising earlier, and soon the buds and leaves will begin to appear.

I watched this beaver cruising on the open water on Wascana Lake before it headed to the shore to dine on some bush branches.

Another view of a vintage barn, which a knowledgable friend says is almost certainly a dairy barn.

After photographing a vintage barn from several angles I turned away from the rising sun and focused on a vintage wagon by the entry to a farm yard.

A favourite barn to photograph, taken from a gravel road at the edge of the property. Sunrise provides the best opportunities to capture images of this barn.
