What better way to sell farm machinery but with a calendar showing a girl and her dog looking into the distance? This calendar is on a wall in the Hepburn Museum, which is a restored grain elevator.

This is a memorial to the early settlers of an area known as the Riverlands Heritage Area, and is located on the north side of the North Saskatchewan River. I like the whimsical addition of the weathervane to the simple structure.

When the railway through the town of Blaine Lake was removed, a lot of bits and pieces like spikes and bolts were left behind. I found these bits on the former right-of-way.

A view of St. Thomas Anglican Church in a district called Vernon. Fieldstone buildings like this would have taken a great deal of time and effort to build. The church is used occasionally. The cemetery beside it is still in use.

Part of this tree is alive, although the remainder appears to be dead, perhaps because of some dry years. A farmer, or succession for farmers, some years ago chose to leave it to grow, rather than removing it. I saw this image beside the Trans-Canada Highway, so I turned around at the next exit to go back for a closer look.

For a few days some of the ferns in my garden show this distinctive fiddlehead shape before they grow into the more familiar shape. This is one of those instances where you must take the image now, because tomorrow it may be gone for another year.
