This flower bloomed last season beside a walkway near my back yard. I see it as a reminder of that season's fertility, and the promise of the season to come.

A favourite location of mine, showing a tree and a power pole in a field in March 2022. The scene looks wintry, but within a month the farmer will be readying the field for another crop.

Amaryllis bulbs were scarce around Christmas time, but we found this one in February. As the days grew longer this one responded to the afternoon sun with several gorgeous blooms, with more on the way. I estimate this one was another day or two away from looking when I took this.

A memorial to the Holodomor - death by starvation - that occurred in Ukraine in 1932-33 as the result of the USSR's policies to confiscate food and collectivize agriculture. This memorial is in Wascana Park, in Regina, Saskatchewan. More than 130,000 people in the province are of Ukrainian descent.
