As the sun rose it lit up the clouds near Rosthern, appearing for a few moments and then sliding behind the clouds again. For a few moments it was partially obscured by a layer of cloud.

I was traveling on a highway near Rosthern, Saskatchewan when I noticed the rays of sunlight beaming down from a break in the clouds. I pulled over and spent the next hour or so taking photos of the skies, or a combination of the sky and the landscape.

I usually include some landscape to provide context to an image, but this image of the sky shortly after sunrise seems to stand on its own. Take on a Sunday morning g near Rosthern, Saskatchewan.

Among photographers I know this is an example of "God's rays." This kind of image is a staple of inspirational literature and funeral cards. It was fun capturing images like this, on a Sunday morning, no less.
