A White American Pelican flying into a strong wind over Blackstrap Lake, a popular gathering place for pelicans during a Saskatchewan summer.

The water level at Blackstrap Lake is lower than usual, enabling pelicans to congregate on a sandbar at the south end of the lake. It was a windy afternoon, so the pelicans had to work at staying in place within the group.
