I'm attracted to the sculptural aspects of machines, such as the grille of a 1941 Fargo truck, manufactured for the US Army. The many different coats of paint add to the appeal, and suggest possible stories of travels made before the truck came to rest. This 1941 Fargo truck first had a coat of Olive Drab paint, since it likely served in the military during WWII. It has been painted in other colours since, which makes for interesting patterns as it has weathered. Here I desaturated the colours almost to black and white. The bug eye headlight on a 1941 Fargo built for military use. Originally painted an olive drab colour, this old warrior has received - and partly shed - a few coats of paint since the war ended. The yard at the Ghost town Blues B&B outside Maple Creek has a couple of 1941 Fargo trucks, manufactured in the US for the US Army. The original colour was green (officially, Olive Drab). Post-war, this old warrior has received several paint job, including red and silver, with a good dollop of rust for good measure. Over time buildings change to serve new purposes, or to adapt to new priorities. I've seen doors and windows bricked in to improve energy efficiency, for example. This closed-in door caught my eye because there has been no effort to remove the other signs that his was once a doorway. While wandering the main street of Empress. Alberta, I noticed a stone wall around a house and yard. Coming closer, I heard the sound of running water, and noticed that one of the flags reads: It's always five o'clock somewhere. I knew right away this would add to my oddities photo collection.
