tree buddies

These fungi were growing from a tree beside the trail that parallels Nistowiak Falls. I checked iNatarilist, but I didn't receive a definitive identification of what theses fungi are called. They sure grabbed my attention.

at the foot of the Falls

A view of Nistowiak Falls as it empties into Rapid Lake. The guide who transported our group to the Falls said the fishing is good around there.

A fallen tree as seen from a high vantage point, framed by rocks and the rushing water of Nistowiak Falls.

rock solid-Nistowiak Falls

A rock projecting above the rushing water of Nistowiak Falls in Saskatchewan. I titled this image rock solid, but of course the water has sculpted this rock and will continue to do so.

The Rapid River seen just before it flows into a 33 metre drop called Nistowiak Falls. The river eventually flows into the Churchill River in Saskatchewan.

a glimpse of Rapid River

Rapid River flows over Nistowiak Falls, a 33 metre drop the then flows into the Churchill River in Saskatchewan. This is a view of the river just before it flows over the falls. I took this in September 2016, and decided to re-edit it using today's more powerful editing tools.

symbiosis 2

My lack of knowledge may be showing, in that the word Symbiosis may be only partially correct. This large and uniquely coloured fungus caught my eye as I walked the portage trail around Nistowiak Falls in northern Saskatchewan.

Nistowiak 6

At its narrowest point the water that roars down Nistowiak Falls boils through, creating clouds of mist. Capturing an image that wasn't just a blob of water was a challenge. This was about the best I could achieve. Do not use this image on blogs, websites or other media without permission. © 2016 William Armstrong. All rights reserved.
