A fieldstone church beside a cemetery, located beside a gravel road and surrounded by farm fields. I don't know how the location came to be called Vernon: I haven't found any traces of a village or town nearby. The cemetery is well maintained and the church is used occasionally; mostly in the summer months.

The play of bright sunlight and shadow initially caught my eye, but then I noticed that the animal tracks just seemed to end at the base of the snowdrift. Or, maybe they started there..

When I took this image of a window of the fieldstone church at Vernon I wanted to show the shape of the window and reflections in the glass. As I edited the image I realized that the mason who worked on this chose a stone with a distinctive colour for the keystone at the top of the arch over the window. The mason's choice echoes down through the years.
