fences and barn in morning light

16 Mar 2025 3 1 13
A favourite vintage bran bathed in morning light, and seen from a different perspective. I didn't understand the profusion of fences until I talked with a nearby homeowner. He explained that the barn belongs to another property owner, adjacent to the homeowner.

high voltage morning light

09 Mar 2025 3 1 20
The metal towers carrying high voltage lines were erected a few years ago to distribute electricity from a new generating plant near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. The light of the morning sun reflecting off the towers caught my eye.

follow the yellow gravel road

Morning light on the gravel caught my eye. This is not really a road, but a trail used by the farmer to move heavy equipment, as evidenced by the large tire tracks. This soil is called gumbo, which means don not attempt to drive this when it is wet!

vintage hay wagon and barn

A hay wagon in front of a farmstead, with what I think is a dairy barn in the background.

fences and barn in morning light

I think this is a dairy barn, although it appears to be unused now. There is a farmstead close by, but the fellow who lives there told me the barn is on another property. This helps explain the rather complicated fencing and entry roads.

Terra Cotta baluster 2

05 Mar 2025 2 13
Morning light on the balusters on the east side of the Albert Memorial Bridge enhances the colours. I can't say with certainty that each baluster has a unique design, but they do feature different design elements and colours.

Terra Cotta baluster

05 Mar 2025 1 11
Balusters like this one line both sides of the Albert Memorial Bridge in Regina. The bridge was built during the Great Depression as a make-work project. It was refurbished in 2012, including the removal and restoration of the balusters by heritage specialists before they were re-installed.

early light at Grasslands NP

The sun beginning to warm some of the rugged landscape in the West Block of Grasslands National Park.

wrong side of a bison

23 Nov 2023 7 55
The light was on the wrong side of this bison when I stopped to photograph it along a road in the Old Man on His Back Heritage Reserve, but walking past it, away from my car, would be foolish. These huge animals can move surprisingly fast when they feel threatened. To me, this seemed to be close enough.

lily close-up

The morning light on this lily was gorgeous, as was the flower itself. I tried to capture that, and while I didn't nail the focus as I'd hoped, I'll take this.

Art Deco balusters

Art Deco balusters along the Albert Memorial Bridge in Regina, in the morning light. The balusters were restored and repainted about 2012, but time and weather have caused some cracks.

drifted

It is common to see a piece of vintage farm machinery or equipment at the entry road to a farmstead in Saskatchewan. Blowing snow had sculpted the area around this vintage wagon.

A large barn by a back road, bathed in morning light. This image was taken on April 8, 2023.

pure morning out there

05 Jun 2021 2 56
The view out the doorway of a poplar log and mud house, which I believe was built in 1912, near Silton, Saskatchewan. I was standing more or less level on the floor of the house, which is beginning to succumb to the elements.
