A view of the divided highway from the south side of the Qu'Appelle Valley at Lumsden, Saskatchewan. This image was taken in mid-September, so the leaves on some of the trees were already turning colour.

I was traveling on a highway near Rosthern, Saskatchewan when I noticed the rays of sunlight beaming down from a break in the clouds. I pulled over and spent the next hour or so taking photos of the skies, or a combination of the sky and the landscape.

A view of the Qu'Appelle Valley and the river of the same name, as seen on an October morning from a Nature Conservancy property called, appropriately, Valley View. By this time of year the harvest is mostly over and the land is preparing for the winter conditions to come.

A stretch of highway in the Big Muddy Valley that sees little traffic. A photographer can work in the middle of the highway if needed, since you can see and hear vehicles coming from a long distance away.
