I hunkered down between the rails without a worry about a train coming, although the line appeared to be still in use. The near ghost town of Ravenscrag is one of the few communities in this area.

Frenchman River cutbank

The Frenchman River - also called the Whitemud by locals - meanders through the valley that bears its name. Cutbanks like this record the history of high water marks, usually in the Spring runoff. Without a major rain event, by late September the river is at a low ebb.

The folklore regarding horseshoes is that the good luck drains out of them if you hang them this way. I found this image beside an abandoned building in what used to be Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan.
