Wind action creates ripples and sculpted lines on active dunes in the Great Sand Hills. The area also has patches of vegetation that manage to survive.

Swift Current Creek has its headwaters in the coulee where Pine Cree Regional Park is located. The creek winds through the park, providing many opportunities to photograph it. By the time the creek reaches the city of Swift Current it is much deeper and wider than this, which is easily crossed thanks to a few rocks.

All it took was one Canada goose to create some ripples on the channel between Pine Island and the shore of Wascana Lake, on a calm, foggy morning.

I used a somewhat longer exposure to slow down the water, and while editing I thought the rocks and the algae made for an abstract look. This was taken from an abandoned bridge overlooking Pipestone Creek in southeastern Saskatchewan.

My intent was to capture the reflections on the Moose Jaw River, and I can't explain the impressionistic look of the foliage in the upper right. I'm not sure where the shoreline is, but I like that this image invites a longer look.

I took this image in 2007, at the Great Sand Hills in Saskatchewan, shortly after sunrise. I decided to edit it again using my current photo processing app.

I like Impressionist art, but I've not often tried for impressionistic effects in my photos. However, when I looked closely at this I saw that with a bit of cropping I could present mostly reflections of the creek bank in the rippling water, giving it an impressionistic effect. I find it a bit disorienting, but I like it.
