frosty branch backlit

A close-up look at hoar frost that accumulated overnight on tree branches close to where I live. When the conditions are right - ground fog overnight and very little wind - the frost makes a coating over everything.

frosted berries

Frozen berries with a bit of hoar frost, which has been more common than usual this winter. The berries help the birds that stay around during the cold months sustain themselves.

frosty patio light

A frost-coated patio light spotted along the fence of a neighbour's yard. Ground fog had deposited hoar frost on everything overnight.

hoar frost and leaf

I took a walk around a local park, and while everything was covered in frost, there was too much background clutter in images of the trees and bushes. A close-up of some branches and a single leaf did illustrate how much frost had accumulated overnight.

rosy fingered dawn by the creek

For a few moments the rising sun imparted a pink glow over everything, including the frost-covered trees and bushes along Wascana Creek in Regina.

frosted leaning tree

Heavy ground fog had covered everything with a coating of hoar frost. This tree sits at the edge of Wascana Lake in the urban park in Regina. I took this "colour" version of the image during the blue hour, just before sunrise.
