It was one of those evenings when the sunset demanded pulling off this highway to capture some images. Driving a short distance up a side road I found this large grain storage bin, silhouetted against the setting sun.

A modest little chapel located on a plot of land between an historic school and a cemetery, south of Leader, Saskatchewan. The surrounding fields had already been harvested in mid-September when this was taken. The evening sky made an interesting backdrop to the chapel.

St. John's School

St. John's School, a provincial historic site located south of Leader, Saskatchewan. It opened in 1924 as a Lutheran parochial school, the only one operated by the Missouri Synod in the province. It became a separate school in 1942 and closed in 1965.

This tiny chapel could use some paint on the outside, but the interior is clean and cozy, with three pews on each side of a centre aisle. The chapel is situated in the corner of a field with an historic school house and cemetery, which is just visible in the background. This image was taken near sunset on a hot August evening. Harvest dust in the air has softened the image somewhat.
