The clematis plants just outside my back door reached new heights this summer, and produced some lovely blooms, like these two darker red ones, along with some lighter red. Seeing these every morning is a great way to begin the day.

A macro of one of the blooms on the clematis that grows outside my back patio door. During the summer it is one of the first things I look for in the early morning. I took this image before the breeze came up. The beige background is the stucco wall behind the plant, which had grown to about seven feet.

My wife and I were wondering if the clematis just outside our back door would survive the winter. After a slow start this spring it began to thrive to the point that I had to add a rod to the top of the structure that it grows around and through. This bloom is at eye level.

The clematis gives me opportunities to practice using a new macro lens.

Just outside my back door a clematis plant grows up a lattice placed near the wall. Looking at the delicate blooms is a treat.
