A gravel road in southwest Saskatchewan, in the rolling hill country at the south end of the Cypress Hills. A photographer can set up in the middle of a road like this knowing that it's unlikely another vehicle will come along to force you to move.

An abandoned house beside the Qu'Appelle River, in the valley of the same name. Even though Lumsden and Craven are close by, and there are houses and farm buildings on both sides of the valley, this house has a lonely and isolated look to it. This church sits on a fenced-off area of what is likely a farmer's quarter section of land, in southwest Saskatchewan, near the border with Montana. I decided to try converting the image to (almost) black and white, since the weathered building and the sky seemed to suggest the mood of loneliness and abandonment.
