I borrowed the photo caption from writer W.O. Mitchell, describing Saskatchewan prairie as the lowest common denomination of earth and sky. The country does call out for a wide angle lens. I took this image somewhere in southwestern Saskatchewan.

A layer of fog settled in a low spot, and clouds above obscure the outline of the Cypress Hills in the background, while the gently rolling hills in the foreground are bathed in the morning sun. Two animal trails are visible on the short grass.

Canada's prairie landscape was surveyed on a grid system, which farmers generally follow when they plant their crops. Sometimes there are diagonal straight lines to break up the pattern. The horizon is usually another straight line.
