My intent was to photograph the bug or bee (partially visible just right-of-centre) crawling around the flower, when a bee swooped into the frame. The bee is blurred, but this is the only image I was able to take as it came into view.

Walking around a community garden on a cool morning I saw this tricoloured bee nestled inside a flower. I think the bee may have spent the night there, because it did not move when I came close with my macro lens.

There is a profusion of hollyhocks near my home. On warm summer evenings the bees are busy gathering pollen, but they are a challenge to photograph before they move on to the next blossom.

On summer evenings the hollyhocks near my home are alive with bees collecting pollen, to the point where they appear to be overloaded. The bees move quickly, so achieving a relatively sharp image is a challenge.

This flower has so much pollen that it is difficult to tell between the flower and the been's butt. There's enough pollen left over for the flower petals, as well.

I saw an unusually large bee apparently resting on the underside of a hollyhock flower. While taking photos of this large bee a "normal" size bee flew into gather pollen from the flower.

Bees busy collecting pollen move quickly. Capturing images of them at work requires quick reflexes and some luck. This unusually large bee appeared to be resting on the underside of a hollyhock flower, so I was able to capture several images while it remained motionless.
