Part of the enjoyment of photographing horses is observing how they react differently to the presence of a photographer. When I took this image one horse had already moved away. One seemed curious about who was standing nearby, while the third continued enjoying breakfast.

Rambling around back roads on a foggy morning I chanced upon three horses grazing in a lush pasture located beside a farmstead. The horse on the left was already on the move, apparently not wanting to be a part of a group photo.

On a foggy July morning I encountered these horses in a paddock. Two of the horses seemed to be a bit curious as to what I was up to.

Three favourite horses that I always visit when I'm in the Qu'Appelle Valley near Lumsden. They often come over the the fence by the road, but this time they were busy grazing, so I decided to include the dramatic sky above them.

When I stood at the edge of a filed three of the horses were curious about my presence, while the other two continued with their morning graze.

I've stopped at this location a few times to photograph these horses. Often if I stop to take photos one horse in a group will be curious and eventually come closer, but none of these seem interested.

I have been visiting this large barn with the fieldstone foundation for at least 20 years, watching it collapse, sometimes slowly, or more quickly after a windstorm or a blizzard. The three horses have been grazing nearby for the past several years, so capturing the barn and the horses in one image is a treat.

Three horses that I visit a few times a year, usually grazing in a field just outside Lumsden Saskatchewan. This image was taken in mid-September, as the foliage was beginning to change colour.

As I prepared to photograph the barn three horses came from behind a group of trees to see what I was up to. After inspection they decided the grass was more interesting.
