I don't usually have another image in mind when I try to capture an image, but as I tromped through the bush beside the road leading to Stanley Mission, Saskatchewan, I had painter Tom Thomson's The Jack Pine in my head. It was mid-September, so the trees were already turning colour, and there were few bugs! Tracking birds in flight is a challenge. This is the best of several attempts to capture these pelicans in flight, while another looks on. This image was taken at Prince Albert National Park, in Saskatchewan.

Canada is blessed with many thousands of lakes and an abundance of boreal forests that attract visitors, especially in the summer. The water, the dock installed for the summer and the forest in the background all suggested to me that this is a typical Canadian image. This was taken in Prince Albert National Park, while the rain stopped, for a while.

A Canada Goose watching over a couple of goslings in early June, in Wascana Park, by the shore of the lake with the same name. The geese are habituated to the man-made structures in the park.
