One of the most delightful flowers that grew in my garden last summer.

Roaming around a community garden in the early morning, I noticed one red flower surrounded by pale blue and purple blossoms. It was early in the morning, so there was still some deep on the flower petals.

My wife and I were wondering if the clematis just outside our back door would survive the winter. After a slow start this spring it began to thrive to the point that I had to add a rod to the top of the structure that it grows around and through. This bloom is at eye level.

My plant identifier app tells me this is of the Dianthus family. It is one of the flowers that grew from the package of wildflower seeds that I planted in a patch of garden over the last two summers.

Just outside my back door a clematis plant grows up a lattice placed near the wall. Looking at the delicate blooms is a treat.
