A side view photo of a store, garage and home located on a rise above a side road near Spring Valley, Saskatchewan. The structure appears to be in several sections grafted together at different times.

An abandoned structure situated beside a gravel road leading the now mostly-empty community of Spring Valley. This appears to be a store/garage and living quarters that have been grafted together at different times.

I have visited this abandoned store in the winter, but not in the summer until 2023. I converted the RAW file to black and white, and then added back in some blue and green.

Frankslake is a community near Regina, Saskatchewan. It has several occupied homes and a church that is used occasionally, but the store couldn't compete with shopping options in the nearby "big city." I took photos from several angles during a winter afternoon. This one seems to work well in B&W.

Frankslake store in ice fog

There are a few people living in Frankslake, northeast of Regina. The railway running through the community still carries the occasional train. This store used to serve the community, but I expect everyone now travels to Regina to shop. When this was taken the temperature was a few degrees below freezing, with little wind, allowing ice fog to form.

Frankslake is located north east of Regina. It was settled by German immigrants. At one time the town had two grain elevators. It was named after a lake north and west of the community.

Bayard pump

This gas pump stands outside what I presume was a general store in the hamlet of Bayard. Since it was a hot, sunny day, i decided to give the image a bleached look, rather than using colour or completely black and white.
