flowers in the windows

06 Jan 2025 1 33
A fieldstone church located by a back road somewhere near the tiny community of Tway, Saskatchewan. The plastic flowers silhouetted in the windows and the general upkeep of the building and lot indicated that the church is still used, at least occasionally.

I spent several minutes on my butt beside a garden plot in a local community garden to try to capture the beauty of these bright yellow flowers. I think this is one of the better images.

from the earth

I encountered this scene while walking around the flower beds near where I live. The flowers and the garden fork are both emerging from the soil.

Mariahilf chapel and cairn

17 Oct 2022 1 50
A church, a school, a teacherage and a cemetery were established here around 1900. The chapel is the third house of worship built here. The cairn has the school bell mounted on top.

flowers in the windows

This little chapel in a rural area near Lemberg is well kept, and the plastic flowers in the windows indicate that it is still used. The original church built by German Catholic settlers burned down in 1904. The second church was destroyed by fire in 1921. They decided to rebuild on the site as a chapel, which I guess is 100 years old in 2022.

While walking a few streets and back alleys in Regina, I saw this bicycle re-purposed as a plant holder.

life on the rock

This fieldstone left behind by a retreating glacier has been colonized by two kinds of lichens - orange and black - and by some tenacious plants that have established themselves in a crack in the stone.

This bright pot of flowers caught my eye as I walked around the pathways of a community garden located a few minutes from where I live.

Another view of some hardy plants that manage to thrive in the rugged badlands.

Plants of all kinds have to be hardy to thrive in the extremes of heat and cold, drought and flash floods in the badlands.

wagon in garden at McCord

31 Jan 2021 2 2 67
I found this image in the small community of McCord, where a lady had a garden supply business. She had placed this wagon beside her greenhouse.

wagon in garden B&W

31 Jan 2021 1 72
A lady in the small community of McCord had this wagon on display beside her garden supply business. After editing the image in colour I converted it to (mostly) black and white.

truckin' flowers

22 Sep 2019 1 66
Found in the corner of a garden on main street, in Mankota, SK. An ambitious gardener has placed an aged International pickup truck in his/her garden, and then filled the truck bed with bedding plants.
